The Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics (# HSMR22) is now in its 14th year and has provided an annual forum for surgeons and engineers from around the world to network and explore the latest developments in medical robotics.
Each year, researchers, clinicians and engineers are invited to submit papers on a range of topics covering clinical specialties in urology, heart surgery, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, general surgery, gynecology, ENT, orthopedic and pediatric surgery.
The symposium continues to grow year after year and has now become the premier medical robotics event attended by an international audience of over 500 delegates with clinical, scientific and engineering skills.
The symposium has gained an important reputation for presentations, discussions and demonstrations of cutting-edge clinical practice and emerging technologies in robotic surgery.
This year we plan to go beyond previous achievements and take the symposium to even greater successes with the MedTech Reimagined theme.
We have already received full CPD accreditation from the Royal College of Surgeons and to complement this we are planning a program with a greater focus on clinical practitioner-focused interviews, workshops and presentations.
Background of the Hamlyn Symposium
The Hamlyn Symposium was established in 2007.
It originated from Imperial College's cross-faculty seminars on medical robotics funded by the Hamlyn Center for Robotic Surgery.
The creation of this center was possible thanks to the philanthropic support of both the Helen Hamlyn Trust and Lady Hamlyn personally.
The symposium has grown over the years from around 50 delegates in 2007 to 500 delegates in 2019 and we are delighted that it is now established as an annual international forum for clinicians, engineers and researchers to exchange ideas and explore new challenges and opportunities in health technologies.
This year's program features a series of CPD accredited workshops and a two-day conference with keynote speakers, industry exhibitors and our annual Surgical Robot Challenge.
