FIRST ® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a robotics community that prepares young people for the future through a suite of inclusive, team-based robotics programs for children aged 4 to 18 (PreK-12) who can be facilitated at school or in structured after-school programs. Driven by a global support system of volunteers, educators and sponsors that includes more than 200 of the Fortune 500 companies, the teams operate according to a set of FIRST core values ??to conduct research, raise money, design, build and showcase their achievements during the annual challenges.
An international nonprofit (501 (c) (3)) organization founded by established inventor Dean Kamen in 1989, FIRST has a proven impact on STEM learning, interest and skills development far beyond high school . Former students of FIRST programs have access to exclusive scholarships, internships and other opportunities that create connections and open pathways to a wide variety of careers.
Hosted by FIRST ® Headquarters, the FIRST Championship is a culminating international event for our youth robotics competition season and an annual celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for our community as we prepare youth for the future. The qualification and advancement to participate in the FIRST Championship varies by program.
The FIRST ® Championship 2022 will join thousands of students for the ultimate celebration of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and innovation. In this 2021-2022 season, FIRST ® FORWARD SM powered by Qualcomm, enables FIRST teams around the world to collectively reinvent a path forward and invent the future of transportation.
